Make Summer Camp Run Smoothly with Screen Printed Tees

Summer camps are a typical part of the summer. The benefits are endless: spending time with other kids, less time spent in front of the TV and the growth of confidence, resilience and independence. It’s no surprise why so many parents choose to send their kids to camp for at least a few weeks out of the summer.

If you will be helping out or organizing a summer camp this season, you’ll need the essentials to ensure that it runs smoothly. With so many kids running around, there needs to be a way to identify little ones and do quick head counts, especially if you’ll have both half-day and full-day campers. Screen printed t-shirts from Great Atlantic Outfitters are the perfect solution. Available in many different colors, you can have your camp shirts printed on a budget.

Many camps choose to have their t-shirts printed with the name of the camp and its sign or logo for easy identification. This is especially helpful when going on field trips or to a public swimming pool. You can also choose to color code groups of kids based on age or program. There are plenty of bright colors that will stand out, such as green, yellow and tie-dye. Plus, the shirts are made from cotton and will keep kids cool and comfortable on hot days.

Other items to consider for summer camps include:

  • Lanyards

  • Sports bottles

  • First aid kits

  • Sun protection

  • Duffle bags

  • Tote bags

  • Lunch bags

  • Backpacks

  • Pens

When you shop wholesale for these items, you save a bundle of money. Great Atlantic Outfitters works quickly and efficiently to get orders done on time, so you can include the cost of these items in the price of the camp. Or, you may send an order form home with parents and have them pay a small fee for additional camp shirts and include one shirt with registration. Most parents will be grateful that they don’t have to pick out clothes each morning!

Screen printed tees keeps kids safe, comfortable and accounted for at summer camps. Plus, you’ll benefit from the added branding that your camp will get. Whatever your needs are, Great Atlantic Outfitters is here to help!

Screen Printing vs Embroidery: What’s Right for Your Project?

[image title=”” size=”full” id=”912″ align=”center” linkto=”http://https://greatatlanticoutfitters.com/” ]

If you have an upcoming project that requires some type of customization, you may be wondering what method of printing is best: screen printing or embroidery? Both are very popular for customizing apparel items and promotional products, and many companies or organizations will utilize both methods, depending on the items being personalized and their purpose.

Let’s discuss the pros and cons to screen printing and embroidery so that you can make the best decision for your next project!

Screen Printing

Screen printing is a printing technique that can be used on most types of garments and fabrics. It converts a graphic into a multi-layered film where layers of ink are applied to the surface. Each color is applied one at a time, using a separate stencil. Screen printing is fast, effective and versatile, which is why it’s a popular choice when having a large order done, such as custom t-shirts or reusable bags.

Pros:

  • Affordable, especially for bulk orders

  • Detailed logos can be recreated

  • Design size does not typically affect the price

  • Shading and gradients are added for a high-end look

  • Can be used on uneven or curved surfaces

  • Fast and efficient printing method

  • Colors are vibrant

Cons:

  • Fading or cracking can occur over time

  • Most companies ask for a minimum order

  • Not ideal for photographic prints

Embroidery

Embroidery refers to stitching a name or logo onto an item, which can be done by hand or by machine. The main attraction to embroidery is that it looks very professional. For promotional items that require a special touch, embroidery is a great option. It’s also very durable compared to screen printing and won’t be affected by multiple washings or heat. With this comes a greater price, though, but it can be worth it for smaller orders.

Pros:

  • Professional appearance

  • Longer lifespan compared to screen printing

  • Discounts for large orders

  • Multiple colors added by thread

  • Truly unique

Cons:

  • More expensive than screen printing

  • Takes longer than screen printing

  • Not ideal for small text

  • Shading can be difficult, so logo may need to be altered

  • More limitations on surfaces

Whether you need screen printing or embroidery, count on Great Atlantic Outfitters to deliver quality work at an affordable price!

Do’s and Don’ts for Screen Printers

[image title=”” size=”full” id=”884″ align=”center” linkto=”https://greatatlanticoutfitters.com/” ]

Screen printing isn’t exactly rocket science, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t certain elements that can make this practice a success or a bust. Screen printing companies have the best equipment and techniques for ensuring that the practice is done correctly and to the highest quality standards. Still, it’s a good idea to be familiar with some of the basic do’s and don’ts of screen printing if you want to learn more about the business.

DO’S

  • Do take the time to learn about the various techniques for screen printing. Everything from how much pressure to apply, to what screens to use, to how to move the squeegee will have a dramatic impact on the end result.

  • Do overstock on cleaning supplies, ink and tools. If you get a large order, it’s easy to run out on supplies, and you don’t want this to affect productivity.

  • Do keep lists handy. This makes it much easier to keep track of orders, supplies and quantities, even when you have multiple orders to take on.

  • Do practice safe waste methods. To protect the environment and limit pollution, you’ll need to know the basics of what is considered hazardous waste and how to dispose of these products safely.

  • Do keep learning. There are emerging technologies and print methods, and you can learn about them through various trade shows, printing seminars and business classes.

DON’TS

  • Don’t try to save money on equipment. If you’re opening your own business, for example, it’s better to invest in quality equipment rather than a fancy business location. The quality of the equipment will have a direct result on your end product.

  • Don’t try to do too much at once. Even though screen printing is the fastest way to print on fabrics, it still takes practice and diligence to work at this speed.

  • Don’t just throw waste materials in the garbage. Things like aerosol cans, solvents and degreasers may be considered hazardous waste and will require certain disposal methods.

  • Don’t get discouraged. Screen printing continues to evolve, despite emerging digital printing technologies. The fact is that screen printing is affordable, effective and practical, and it surpasses digital printing in many aspects.

9 Tips for Choosing an Apparel Printing Company

[image title=”gao” size=”full” id=”873″ align=”center” linkto=”https://greatatlanticoutfitters.com” ]

Are you interested in having t-shirts printed for your company or organization? Modern printing techniques allow for just about anything to printed onto t-shirts and other items, such as backpacks, sweatshirts and baseball caps. Here are nine tips for choosing the best apparel printing company for your needs.

1. Quantity – How many shirts do you need printed? Can the company handle a small or large order? Some companies have minimum orders, for instance. If you are ordering a large quantity, ask about discounts or wholesale prices that allow you to save more per item.

2. Design – Does the apparel printing company offer their own designs, or can you create your own? Some companies will even create a customized logo just for your organization for an extra fee.

3. Submitting the Design – If you are going to create your own design, how do you submit it? On a CD, or will an email be suitable?

4. Cost of Project – Discuss your budget with the company. While you want to stick within a certain budget, you also want quality products that will serve as a testament to your business. Find a balance of affordability and quality.

5. Deadline – When do you need the order by? Can the printing company meet these needs? You need to be fair, too, and give the company enough time to process the order. Research local companies where you may be able to pick up the order instead of having it delivered.

6. Product Selection – Not only should the printing techniques be high quality, but so should the product selection. Browse the company’s catalog and look at the superiority of the products sold.

7. Staff – Who will be working on your order? Does the staff have experience in screen printing and embroidery? If you don’t have the experience to print your own shirts, you certainly want a company that does!

8. Customer Service – When asking questions, how does the company treat you? Are they patient and informative, or do they rush through the responses? Choose a company that wants your business.

9. Reviews – What types of reviews does the company have? You can learn this information by reading testimonials and Google reviews. Don’t just shun a company that has a few negative reviews, either. Read about if/how the problem was resolved.

Why Choose Screen Printing

[image title=”Screen shot 2014-02-21 at 1.34.14 PM” size=”full” id=”858″ align=”center” linkto=”https://greatatlanticoutfitters.com/” ]

Screen printing is by far the most effective method for recreating images in bright colors. The colors will continue to look good for years to come, and the design can be printed in bulk, which is perfect for large print runs. This is good news for marketers that want to produce high-quality promotional items that won’t drain their advertising budget. Other printing methods use ink that fades very quickly, but with screen printing, the item can be washed over and over again, and no fading will be noticeable.

Screen printing is a relatively simple process, although it’s a good idea to choose a professional screen printing company that has experience with the process. There are still things that can happen, and an experienced company will have the highest quality materials and know how to correctly work the mesh, stencils and squeegee.

Items that Can be Screen Printed

So, what types of items can be screen printed? Just about anything, really! This is another great reason for choosing screen printing because the sky’s the limit. Here are some of the most popular items that work well for screen printing:

Fabrics
Clothing
T-shirts
Aprons
Backpacks
Duffle bags
Lunch bags
Mouse pads
Vinyl binders
Flags
Marketing signs
Ceramics
Glass
Wood

What are the Advantages?

Screen printing has many advantages over digital printing, which is why it continues to be so popular despite an increasing reliance on digital technology. No matter how advanced the company may be, most will still opt for screen printing because of the following:

Cost-effective
Ideal for bulk orders
Versatile on all types of materials and fabrics
Fast and efficient – great for last minute orders
Images are high quality
Colors are bold and bright
Images last for a long time, even after washing
Works well with both text and images

Are there any Disadvantages?

So, are there any drawbacks to be aware of with screen printing?

The only limitations are that the image should be simple in design and feature definite lines or shapes that print well. Working with an experienced screen printing shop will be helpful, as the company can assist you in selecting the best image for your needs, or they can create a unique image solely for your brand.

3 Common Screen Printing Problems

[image title=”screen printing ” size=”full” id=”840″ align=”center” linkto=”https://greatatlanticoutfitters.com” ]

Screen printing is fast, easy and efficient, but there is still an art to it that must be mastered. If you’re not familiar with screen printing, there are things that can happen that will compromise the design. If you’re looking to order bulk t-shirts, bags or blankets for instance, it’s best to go with a professional screen printing company that puts quality first.

Here are 3 common screen printing mistakes to keep an eye out for.

1. Art Design Problems

It’s important to use a high-quality piece of artwork, as any little blemishes in the artwork will be transferred over to the printed item. Low resolution images will only get you into trouble. It’s recommended that the art be 300 ppi at print size and it should match with the correct screen mesh.

The design should also be printed correctly, which takes some precision by lining up the screen carefully. Since not all shirts or items are sewn consistently, it’s not always dependable to use the collar or crease as your starting point.

2. Screen Problems

There are many things that can happen to the screens, but some of the most common include loose brackets and loosened emulsion.

If the bracket is not tight enough, the screen will appear loose. All screws and brackets should be tightened for the best outcome. Additionally, the emulsion can loosen and come off if the screen was underexposed. In this case, it’s important to place the screen in the sun after it has been washed out so that the emulsion can be re-set.

3. Ink Problems

Sometimes, it’s possible for the ink to be cured improperly. The temperature should be set at the right point, which is dependant on the type of ink that is being used. Another problem is that too much ink is being applied, which happens when there is too much pressure. On the other hand, the ink may too light, which means a coarser mesh or additional squeegee may be needed.

Also, ink spots or smudges can occur on the material. It’s important to keep the hands and work area clean, and if smudges do occur, a spot cleaning gun can do the trick.

What Types of Items Can be Screen Printed?

[image title=”screen” size=”full” id=”642″ align=”left” linkto=”https://greatatlanticoutfitters.com” ]

Screen printing is an excellent choice if you have a large quantity of items that require a logo printed on them. Great Atlantic Outfitters provides quality screen printing services for our customers, and although we are located in the Sunshine State, our services are offered to businesses, organizations and individual customers from around the world.

Many of our customers want to know what types of items can be screen printed. T-shirts and other clothing items are the most common products to be screen printed, but we can do many, many more. In fact, with the versatility of screen printing, it’s possible to use the technique on just about anything.

Here is a list of the types of items that can be screen printed.

From the list above, you can see that there are few limitations when it comes to screen printing. This type of process involves printing ink onto an item, and since it’s flexible and doesn’t need to be done under pressure, it can be used on items like wood, glass, plastic and metal. We always recommend screen printing for customers who have a large quantity of items that need to be done on a budget. Screen printing is cost-effective, fast, has little risk and leaves room for endless colors and designs.

Even though screen printing is adaptable, it’s best when used on items that are flat. This makes the transfer process easier and more accurate. You must also be flexible with screen printing. It’s high quality and durable, but it won’t have the same detailed work as something that is embroidered. It’s also possible that the ink may bleed, so there are some items that are better left to other techniques.

If you’re not sure if your promotional item can benefit from screen printing, contact our company to learn more about our available services.

Design Your Own Screen Printed T-Shirts

[image title=”t” size=”full” id=”419″ align=”center” linkto=”https://greatatlanticoutfitters.com” ]

T-shirts are great promotional items to hand out, or they can be used for trade shows, sports teams, non-profit organizations and so on. They have so many uses, and you can’t deny another cozy shirt in the wardrobe. Plus, every time the shirt is worn, it supports your cause or markets your business. Thankfully, screen printing leaves plenty of room for creative design and input. When working with a screen printing company like Great Atlantic Outfitters, you can design your own tees and have a product that you’re proud of.

Choose an Experienced Screen Printing Company

Screen printing is budget-friendly, so you’ll be surprised at what you can get done on a little budget. From t-shirts to sweatshirts to polo shirts, screen printing is fast and can handle elaborate designs. It’s important to choose a reputable company that is well experienced in screen printing, as even though it’s not difficult to do, experienced companies will have the right equipment and best techniques.

Select Your Item and the Quantity

Your first step will be choosing what you want to have screen printed. Most companies will provide an online catalog where you can browse for items that fit your needs. The most popular items are t-shirts, messenger bags, baseball caps and sweatshirts. Next, you will need to decide on the quantity you want. Check to see if there is a minimum order you have to make. And, if you’re ordering for a team, you’ll want to have a few extra on hand, so order slightly higher.

Know Your Colors and Design

You will also need to tell the screen printing company what colors you will be printing on the front and back of your shirts. Your quote is determined, in part, by the number of colors being used in the design, so providing this information will get you a more accurate price. Screen printing can handle a lot of color, so don’t be afraid to make your t-shirts unique. But, if you’re on a budget, choose one or two colors and a clean, simple design. Finally, tell the company when you need the order by and any other important details. It’s as simple as that.

Great Atlantic Outfitters accepts all designs and logos, or we can create a unique one for you. We can also do rush orders if you’re working on a short time frame. We work with local customers as well as those around the U.S.
